Area of Interaction:Community and Service Significant Concept:Video games can be used to understand math, technology, engineering, social studies, English, and/or science. Unit Question:How can my learning help my community?
Requirements: -Create a video game for Midvale students. Your game needs to help middle school students with one subject area. You can use the following site to help you with question ideas: UEN -Choose a video game site to use, such as Atmosphir, Power Game, or your favorite game maker site. (You must approve it through me) -Your game needs to have at least 20 questions. -Complete and use the Design Cycle -Spend one day practicing Atmosphir. -Your Assignment is due February 10.
You will receive an academic grade and an MYP grades for this assignment.
Investigate:
Completely explain the problem and its relevance to your life. i need to create a game that has 20 questions and will help me (or anyone else my age) study a specific topic.
Critically investigate the problem and evaluate information from a variety of appropriate sources. uen is a good place with a bunch of information.
Provide a detailed explanation of how you will test your product against the design specifications. (requirements)
i will thoroughly use the design cycle and frequently check the requirements
Design:
Create a range of possible designs, and evaluate all of them against the design specifications (requirements).
atmosphir is fun and easy but i have my heart set on minecrcaft because of my previous knowledge about it. i did not consider power game because of its limited options Choose the best design and evaluate it fully against the design specifications (requirements).
i will use minecraft i can use minecraft to thoroughly meet the requirements of this project.
Plan:
Create a plan that contains a number of detailed, logical steps that describes how you will use your resources and time.
day 1: i will investigate possible game makers
day 2: i will evaluate it against the design specifications
day 3 and on: i will work on the game til its done Evaluate the plan and justify any changes to your design.
Create:
Skillfully use appropriate techniques and equipment.
Follow your plan, justify changes in the plan, and create an appropriate product using your resources and time.
Evaluate:
Evaluate your product based on the design specifications, results of testing, and feedback from self and others.
Evaluate your performance at each stage of the design cycle and suggest improvements.
Completely explain how sticking to a task impacts your life and environment.
Attitude:
You were consistently motivated and respectful. (and not a whiny baby!)
yes i had great behavior and attitude the entire time.
